Butler, who was recruited on the emerging panel, got his first on-field duties during the 2015- 2016 Professional Cricket League (PCL). His upward movement was fuelled by good performances in regional age group tournaments and other competitions.
Totally involved in the sport locally, Butler is a committee member of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association, as well as the St Vincent and the Grenadines Umpires Association.
Still active on the field, Butler is a key member of top premier division outfit Team Rivals, and North East, one of the top teams in the SVG Masters competition.
Butler played five One-Day Internationals for the West Indies and a solitary Twenty/20 International between 2005 and 2006.
Additionally, he has played 64 first class matches, capturing 176 wickets as a left arm, medium fast bowler, at an average of 26.20 runs per wicket.
The next step for Butler is a place on the ICC Elite group.
