Desron Maloney powers Circumstance to NL cricket semis
Desron Maloney hit the fourth century of the 2016 Vinlec North Leeward 20/20 Cricket Competition, slamming 145 to power up defending champions Circum-stance to 283 for 3 from their 20 overs.{{more}}
Donwell Hector posted 97 to add to the carnage of Upsettersâ bowlers, last Sunday at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.
In a revised target, Upsetters were 156 for 8 off 19 overs, when bad light stopped play. At that point, Upsetters needed to be at 269, they therefore lost by 113 runs.
Contributing to Upsettersâ total were Mervin Cato â 38 and Mikiel Bowens â 30, while Kesroy De Bique had 3 for 56 and Fitzmore Edwards 2 for 11, bowling for Circumstance.
Joining Circumstance in the semi-finals were Peto Stars, who registered a three-wicket triumph over North Stars.
Shem Browne stroked 67 and Javon Samuel, 24, to take North Stars to 163 for 7 off 20 overs.
Bowling for Peto Stars, Vidal Edwards picked off 3 for 39 and Kenrick Westfield had 2 for 30. In response, Peto Stars crossed the line at 165 for 7 off 19.2 overs.
Telan Samuel scored 39 and Allison Samuel, 25 not out. Javon Samuel took 2 for 24 and Ben Browne 2 for 28, in a losing bowling effort for North Stars.
The competition continues this Saturday, November 19, with the two remaining quarter-finals matches.
From 9:30 a.m., RSVG Police play Ajuba, then from 1:30 p.m., Big League take on Carlos James Troumaca Starlight.
Sunday will host the semi-finals, which bowl off at 9:30 a.m. and would feature Circumstance versus the RSVG Police/ Ajuba encounter. From 1:30 p.m., Peto Stars will engage either Big League or Carlos James Troumaca Starlight.(RT)
