RSVG Police, Mustique among winners in weekend Masters Cricket

Two of the more consistent teams in this year’s SVG Masters 20/20 cricket competition – defending champions RSVG Police and newcomers Mustique were in the winners’ circle on Sunday.{{more}}

Facing lowly placed Rate Yo Boys Challengers at the Sion Hill Playing Field, RSVG Police came out triumphant by six wickets.

Rate Your Boys Challengers made 80 all out off 19.1 overs.

For the law officers, Brenton Smith had 2 for 7 and Elmore Alexander, 2 for 16.

RSVG Police replied with 82 for 4 off 11.2 overs. Gosnel Cupid made 29, while Kemron Fraser had 2 for 22, bowling for Rate Yo Boys Challengers.

At the same time, Mustique was doing it to Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie by five wickets at Buccament.

Barrouallie scored 85 for 7 off 15 overs. Vibert Williams took 2 for 12.

Mustique in reply, made 86 for 5 off 11 overs. Felix Greaves and St Clair Bascombe both hit 23 and Chadwick Carrington, 21.

Sunday’s other match, played at the Sion Hill venue, saw Stanley Browne’s Stubbs beat Park Hill United by seven wickets.

Park Hill United scored 60 all out, off 19.4 overs; Micah Joseph, 5 for 4 and Leon Samuel, 2 for 8.

Stubbs scored 65 for 3 off 11.5 overs. Christopher Campbell made 24.

Two matches were played on Saturday at both venues.

At Sion Hill, St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ptani defeated J G & Sons Glamorgan by 58 runs.

Ptani scored 134 for 8 off 20 overs. Elvis Charles got 36, Jerome “Parry” Samuel, 35 and Isaac Haywood, 20.

Augustus Mofford, with 4 for 20, was Glamorgan’s best bowler.

At their turn, Glamorgan could only make 76 for 8 off their 20 overs, as Cassius Welcome took 2 for 2 and Elvis Woods 2 for 15.

And at Buccament, Computec Belfongo defeated Pastures by 84 runs.

Belfongo’s 180 for 5 off 20 overs saw Arrington Burgin making 53 not out, Curtis King, 41, Sylvannus Morgan, 30 and Aaron Bascombe, 29.

Bowling for Pastures, Ardon Hall had 2 for 9 and Everton Malcolm 2 for 32.

Pastures in reply, scored 96 all out in 15.3 overs, Lennox Samuel and Ardon Hall contributing 26 and 24, respectively.

Samuel Holder, with 4 for 14 and Bradley Brooker, 3 for 6, got the bulk of the wickets for Belfongo.(RT)
