Two champs keep table tennis titles
Leah Cumberbatch of the Kingstown Preparatory School (KPS) secured her second consecutive title, while the St Vincent Grammar Schoolâs (SVGS) Andre Mitchell made it a hat-trick, when the finals of the Schoolsâ Table Tennis Tournament were concluded last Friday at the SVGSâs auditorium.{{more}}
Cumberbatch stopped a spirited Kiara Moses of the Layou Government School 7/11, 11/9, 11/7 11/4, to clinch the Girlsâ Open Singles title in the primary segment.
Meanwhile, Andre Mitchell won for the third time in succession, the Secondary Boys Open Singles title.
Mitchell, in his completion of the hat-trick, defeated his teammate Jaden Cunningham 11/3 11/8, 11/9 in the final.
In the Boys Primary Singles, Sugar Mill Academyâs Caleb Howard did it his way, strolling past Joevel Morgan of the Paradise Primary School of Bequia 11/7, 11/8, 12/10, when the two squared off for the title.
And, Vedel Charles of the St Josephâs Convent Kingstown went one better than in 2015.
Charles, who had to settle for the runner-up spot last year to the Girlsâ High Schoolâs Aaliyah John, beat Donique Richardson of the Bishopâs College Kingstown, 3 games to one. Charles won 4/11, 11/9, 11/8, 11/7, in the decisive match-up.(RT)
