Jerome Samuel slams century in Masters Cricket

Jerome Samuel crafted 106 to lead St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ptani to 202 for 4 off 20 overs, on Sunday at the Clive Tannis Playing Field, as the SVG Masters Cricket Competition maximized the weekend.{{more}}

Samuel’s ton was supported by Alfred McKenzie’s 33 not out and Isaac Haywood – 27.

In reply, Bequia Cricket Association Masters were staved off to 161 for 7 off 20 overs; Shawn Glynn top scored with 48, Calvert Hazell – 39 and Victor Williams – 33.

Adolf Campbell had 2 for 17 and Elvis Woods – 2 for 22, bowling for Ptani.

Other winners were Park Hill, J G and Sons Glamorgan, Sion Hill, RSVG Police, Coreas Hazells North Leeward, North East and Mustique.

Park Hill had a six-wicket win over Kirk Da Silva’s La Croix at Park Hill on Saturday.

La Croix – 128 for 8 off 20 overs; Benedict Phillips scored 38 and Burt Bowman – 26.

Cameron John picked up 4 for 21; Keith Horne had 2 for 10 and George Marksman – 2 for 30.

Park Hill responded with 129 for 4 off 17 overs. Elton Lavia scored 54 and Oscar Ryan – 24 not out.

Also on Saturday, Glamorgan overcame Marriaqua by 64 runs at Arnos Vale One.

Glamorgan scored 187 for 7 off 20 overs; Augustus Mofford – 44, James George – 34 not out and Clyde Mofford – 24.

Andrew Little with 5 for 23, was the pick of Marriaqua’s bowling, but their batsmen could only reach 123 for 6 off their 20 overs.

Olando Lavia was the mainstay with 36, while Augustus Mofford took 2 for 13 and Chesley Ottley had 2 for 14.

Sion Hill registered a 34 run win over Computec Belfongo at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Sion Hill put together 153 for 6 off 20 overs. William Edwards led with 53. Samuel Holder had 2 for 19.

Belfongo’s reply stopped at 121 for 9 from their 20 overs, despite Curtis King’s 32 and Bradley Brooker’s 29.

William Edwards ensured his team’s win by taking 4 for 18, while Joseph Medford had 3 for 12 and Gary Rodriguez – 2 for 38.

Meanwhile, last year’s winners, RSVG Police, dumped Pastures by five wickets at Buccament.

Rohan Ash top scored with 37, as Pastures were held to 96 for 7 from their 20 overs. Sigmon Allen had 3 for 12, bowling for the lawmen.

Elmore Alexander struck 34 not out, as RSVG Police got to 97 for 5 in 164 overs. Lennox took 2 for 25.

At the same venue, North Leeward ran out triumphant by 33 runs at the expense of Ruddy’s Electrical Barrouallie.

North Leeward scored 171 for 6 off 20 overs; the main scorers were Ancil Hooper – 54, Orlando Charles – 37 and Kenneth Lewis – 23.

Barrouallie, in spite of good contributions from Augustus Bentick- 51 and Lenif Patterson – 46, could only make 138 for 8 from their 20 overs.

The pick of North Leeward’s bowlers were Reginald Jeffrey, who picked up 3 for 19 and Olando Charles – 2 for 22.

At Park Hill, 2014 winners North East outshone Stanley Browne’s Stubbs by 66 runs.

North East’s total of 137 for 6 off 20 overs, was built around scores of 44 from Arnold Gilkes and Deighton Butler’s 41.

Micah Joseph scalped 2 for 16 for Stubbs, who turn at the crease saw them dismissed for 71 in 18.4 overs.

The main wicket takers for North East were Eric Nimblett – 2 for 7 and Harvey Pope – 2 for 12.

And, Mystique continued their dream involvement in the competition with their third win on the trot, slipping past Rate Your Boys Challengers at the Sion Hill Playing Field on Sunday.

Mustique made 139 for 6 off the 20 allotted overs, with St Clair Bascombe making 41 and Felix Greaves, 33; Tyrone Walker had 2 for 18.

Rate Your Boys Challengers scored 50 all out off 13.1 overs; Felix Greaves picked up 5 for 18 and Michael Charles had 2 for 11.(RT)
