Bequia United Athletics Club holds 5k road relay
A 5k road race organized by the Bequia United Athletics Club, originally planned for September 4 and which should have kicked off Team Athletics SVGâs road racing calendar, took place last Sunday, October 9.{{more}}
The four-leg relay saw five teams competing, from the Bequia Airport at Paget Farm to the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Port Elizabeth.
After 22 minutes 20.82 seconds, it was the Rising Stars team which was first to breast the tape at the finish line.
Trailing them, in 23 minutes 58.73 seconds, was the Bequia Community School and placing third was the Bequia Seventh-Day Adventist team # 1, in a time of 24 minutes 15.12 seconds.
The other teams which contested the event were the Bequia United Athletics Club, which docked in fourth, while the Bequia Seventh-Day Adventist team # 2 was the last to complete the route.
Meanwhile, the Biabou community will host its four-leg road relay on Sunday, October 23.
Sponsored by Digicel, the race will start and finish at the Biabou Playing Field, with each leg making a circuit around Biabou.
The race will have three categories: Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Open.
The primary category is open to only primary schools in the North Windward constituency and will be a mixed gender competition â two males and two females, while the secondary category is open to only male teams from secondary schools from Carapan to Sandy Bay.
And, the Open segment caters to both male and female teams from other areas not defined in either the primary and secondary categories.(RT)
