SVGCC inter-faculty football competitions decided

Year One Sciences and Business and Year Two Tourism, Hospitality and Agriculture have emerged faculty winners of the 2016 French Verandah SVG Community College Football Competition.{{more}}

Year One Science and Business took the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies segment, while Year Two Tourism, Hospitality and Agriculture, copped the Vocational Education component.

The champions were crowned last Thursday and Friday, when the title matches were decided at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

On Thursday, Year One Sciences and Business gained the title by virtue of ending the competition with a superior goals tally.

Coming face to face with Year Two Sciences and Business, the teams ended in a 4-4 draw.

Year One Sciences and Business, though, had to come from twice, first falling behind 2-0 and again 4-2.

Najima Burgin hit a brace, while there was one goal each from Hosni Chandler and Ishmael Peters to make up Year One Sciences and Business’ tally.

Similarly, Kyron Prince had two items and one apiece from Mc Garvin Sampson and Omarie Barbour accounted for Year Two Sciences and Business’ goals.

But when lumped, Year One Sciences and Business had scored 14 goals to Year Two Sciences and Business’ 10 goals.

Meanwhile, Year One Arts and General Studies took third spot with a 2-1 win over Year Two Arts and General Studies.

Clinton Charles led the way for Year One Arts and General Studies, scoring both goals, while Kody Horne registered for Year Two Arts and General Studies.

And, on Friday, Year Two Tourism, Hospitality and Agriculture ran out 3-2 winners over Year One ICT, CET and Business.

After a goalless first half, Year Two Tourism, Hospitality and Agriculture sped to a 3 -0 lead, with two goals from Aron Cupid and one from Stephen King.

But a late surge from Year One ICT, CET and Business, with two goals from Jowan Sawyers, threatened to turn the match on its head, but Sawyers efforts were a little too late.

Next up on the SVGCC‘s sports agenda is the National Lotteries Authority French Verandah Inter Divisional Football Competition, which kicks off October 18.(RT)
