Carbon copy results in Round D Town male segments
It was a carbon copy of the 2014 results in the male categories of Team Athletics SVGâs Round D Town Relay, staged last Sunday in Kingstown.
IT-DAT Academy, the St Martinâs Secondary and Fitz-Hughes Primary all repeated feats which were attained in 2014, when the event was last staged.{{more}}
In winning the male open, IT-DAT bettered their time done two years ago. Last Sunday, Caswell Lewis, Akani Slater, Mesach Dublin and Ryan John clocked 27 minutes 32.03 seconds, opposed to 28 minutes 48.17 seconds in 2014.
Similarly, in retaining the secondary schoolsâ male title, St Martinâs A, composed of Truloni Mc Kenzie, Newman Peters, Tyreke Anthony and Kyle Alphonso, stopped the timer at 29 minutes 48.96 seconds.
Two years ago, when Mc Kenzie, Anthony, Peters and Mocasa Bowman ran the course, they clocked 30 minutes 10.33 seconds.
Fitz-Hughes Primaryâs males retained their title by clocking 39 minutes 10. 52 seconds. The winning male unit in 2014 clocked 40 minutes 41.41 seconds,
The other podium finishers last Sunday were X-Cel B (29 minutes 00.16 seconds) and IT-DAT Academy B (30 minutes 01.40 seconds), placing second and third respectively in the open male.
Meanwhile, Central Leeward trailed St Martinâs, clocking 30 minutes 12.36 seconds and Petit Bordel A were third in 30 minutes 33.48 seconds.
And, Fitz-Hughes were the lone finisher in the female primary, while Fitz-Hughes team two were second among the males.
The three top finishers, where applicable, in each of the six categories received cash awards.
The open category earned $600, $400 and $200, respectively, while in the secondary schoolsâ bracket, the earnings were $400, $300 and $200, in that order.
Fitz-Hughesâ teams got a total of $500, with the first place pocketing $300 and the second place â $200.
Each leg of the relay saw the athletes making one lap around Kingstown, with the lap beginning and ending in front of First Caribbean International Bank on Halifax Street. (RT)
