Simple Boyz maintain form in TBPO softball

Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz conjured up another win to extend their dominance in the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organization 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition.

On Saturday, the defending champions made light work of Riley Snipers at the competition’s venue – the Dauphine Playing Field, winning by nine wickets.{{more}}

Snipers were trapped at 81 for 9 from their 20 overs, cornered by the bowling of Eldon Morris 3 for 9 and Desron Maloney – 2 for 5.

In response, Jabarri Cunningham posted 38 not out and Desron Maloney scored 29, as Simple Boyz cantered to 81 for 1 in just five overs.

Also on Saturday, EZ Wood Toppers overcame Carriere Blazers by six wickets.

Carriere Blazers batted first and scored 77 all out in 13.3 overs. Kemuel King, Raffique Williams and Marcus Hackshaw all took two wickets apiece.

In reply, Toppers reached 78 for 4 in 13.3 overs.

Sunday’s matches went ahead despite affected by rain.

First up, Smart Strikers won by 48 runs over Sunset Strikers in a match tailored to 10 overs per side.

Smart Strikers were dismissed for 93 all out in their 10 overs. Bristol Scott led the way with 47, while Ian Bushay scalped 2 for 11, bowling for Sunset Strikers.

But Sunset Strikers could only reach 45 for 9 in 10 overs, as Kemron John took 2 for 8 and Rajvie Pompey 2-9, to bowl Smart Strikers to a comfortable triumph.

Similarly, Bank of SVG All Stars thumped Young Stars by 10 wickets.

Young Stars were sent back in the hutch for 58 in 14.5 overs. Ron Adams, with 2 for 7, was All Stars’ main wicket taker.

Adams then blasted 30 not out and Nyron Da Souza – 27 not out, saw their team to 64 for no loss.

And, Stingers registered an imposing 200 for 3 in 18 overs, batting first versus Warriors.

Adonis Nanton with 95 and Vincent Cupid – 46, were the chief architects of that total.

Bowling for Warriors, Richard Jeffery took 2 for 23.

In reply, Warriors packed in at 37 all out in 11.1 overs, wrecked by the bowling of Azmon Forbes, who picked off 5 for 5.(RT)
