Double defeats for Ruddy’s Electrical in rain-hit NL cricket

The former champions of the Vinlec North Leeward Twenty/20 Cricket Competition were short-circuited in back-to-back matches last Sunday at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.

Ruddy’s Electrical’s first defeat came at the hands of Summerset.

In a match reduced to 15 overs, Ruddy’s Electrical posted 149 for 9 from their allotted overs.{{more}}

Joelano Neil hit a top score of 37. Former national player Dyke Cato snared 4 for 31.

In response, Summerset reached 152 for 2 off 12.2 overs. Romano Pierre, 59 not out and Jadiel Chance, 52 not out, led their team to an eight-wicket victory. Curtis Edwards got the two wickets which fell at the cost of 29 runs.

There was no reprieve for Ruddy’s Electrical, as Robertson Surveying Future Legends added to their misery with a 77-run defeat.

Future Legends rattled up 205 for 7 off 20 overs; Winston Samuel made 42 and Benniton Stapleton, 35.

For Ruddy’s Electrical, Curtis Edwards picked off 2 for 30 and Joelano Neil 2 for 43.

Ruddy’s Electrical, however, were unable to ignite and were dismissed for 128 in 20 overs.

Anfernee Joseph scored 38, while Benniton Stapleton grabbed 4 for 29, bowling for Future Legends.

On Saturday, both matches involving RSVG Police ended in abandonment.

Facing the 2015 champions Circumstance, the match was reduced to a 10-over affair; however, after 8 overs, heavy rain brought an end to the proceedings.

At the time of the curtailment, Circumstance were 109 for 3 off 8 overs. Desron Maloney had scored 70, while Kenneth Dember had taken 2 for 5.

RSVG Police‘s second match did not even get going because of heavy rain experienced last Saturday islandwide.

Another four matches are carded for this weekend.

On Saturday, from 10 a.m., Peto Stars face Kishore Shallow Coulls Hill Rangers.

Sunday’s 10 a.m. encounter pits Upsetters against Ajuba, to be followed by Sharps United versus Carlos James Troumaca Starlight.(RT)
