TASVG Round D Town Relay returns
After a yearâs absence, the Round D Town Road Relay, put on by Team Athletics SVG will take place this weekend.
This race is set for this Sunday, September 25, starting at 3 p.m.
Last yearâs event was set for November 29, but was cancelled because of âlow registration of participating teamsâ, âthe scheduling of school examinationâ and the âheady election campaignâ.{{more}}
The race takes place in capital Kingstown and is a four-leg event.
Each athlete is required to make one lap around Kingstown, with the lap beginning and ending in front of First Caribbean International Bank on Halifax Street.
Competition will be in the primary school, secondary school, as well as open categories, for both males and females.
The winning primary school in both genders will receive $300, with the second places earning $200 and those docking in third $150.
A cash prize of $400 awaits the male and female winners in the secondary schoolsâ segment, with the second places getting $300 and the third places, $200.
The open category winners earn themselves $400 each; second places, $400 and third places, $200.
When the last Round D Town Relay was staged in 2014, there was an overseas component, which was pouched by Grenada.
The open female category was won by IT-DAT Academy, with St Martinâs Secondary â the males and the Thomas Saunders Secondary (females) of the secondary bracket.
Fitz-Hughes Government School won both genders of the primary category.
