Four teams reap success in TBPO Twenty/20 Softball Cricket

Four matches were decided when the first full weekend of the 2016 National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organization Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition got underway at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

In the end, Stingers, Richmond Hill United, Bank of SVG All Stars and Gomea Bombers, were all triumphant.

In Saturday’s lone fixture, Stingers silenced Nice Radio Clinchers by 35 runs.

Stingers posted 103 for 3 from 12 overs, as the match was hampered by rain. Roger Francois led Clinchers’ bowling, taking 3 for 26.

But Clinchers had reached 64 for 4 in 8 overs. Keneal Skinner took 2 for 7, bowling for Stingers.

When the sun shone on Sunday, Richmond Hill United overcame Georgie Valley Saints by 23 runs.

Marvin Harry top scored with 37 and Rohan Ash, 17, as Richmond Hill got to 104 for 3 from 15 overs.

In reply, Georgie Valley Saints were caged at 81 for 7 in 15 overs; Lee Bullock made 23 not out and Danroy Hazell, 23. Bowling for Richmond Hill United, Rawdon Bentick took 4 for 7 and Mandel Trimmingham, 2 for 12.

Then, All Stars got past Dr Thomas Injectors by six wickets.

Injectors posted 111 for 6 in 15 overs, with Javon Nero, 33 and Damion Allen, 23 not out.

For All Stars, Ron Adams took 2 for 14, to be the most successful bowler.

Responding, All Stars crossed the line in the last over, making 112 for 4 in their 15 overs.

And, Gomea Bombers had a 50-run win over Carrierre Blazers.

Gomea Bombers scored 124 for 7 from 18 overs. Osborne Franklyn led with 42 not out, while Jerando Jardine picked off 3 for 16, bowling for Carrierre Blazers.

Chasing 125 to win, Carrierre Blazers stopped at 74 all out in 15.3 overs, undone by the bowling of Alwayne Quashie, 3 for 5; Raymond Sayers, 2 for 9; and Osborne Franklyn, 2 for 18.
