Ballantyne tops SVG’s table tennis rankings

Despite attaining the ripe at of 56, Robert “Bob” Ballantyne is still the leading table tennis player in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

When the St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association (SVGTTA) released its latest rankings last weekend, it showed Ballantyne, a former national and OECS singles champion, the headliner on 132 points.{{more}}

Trailing Ballantyne is another veteran player, Sean Stanley, who along with Damion Dublin, are joint second seeds with 116 points.

Likewise, in fourth place is another seasoned veteran Joseph Carrington, who is holding down the fourth spot, ahead of Romano Spencer, who is in fifth place. Carrington has 89 points and Spencer, 62.

Meanwhile, current national singles champion Carlton Daniel has 60 points and is in sixth place. Daniel has one point more than Javier De Shong, who is the seventh-ranked player.

Completing the top 12 are Jeff Trotman, Junior Byron-Cox, Giles Garraway, Tyrone Jack, in eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh places, respectively, while Luc Velox and Nixon Louie are tied for the twelfth spot.

The ranking system is one of the recommendations made by table tennis expert Swiss- Georg Silberschmidt, who completed a six-month assignment here recently.
