Back-to-back fixtures for teams in NL cricket weekend
Both RSVG Police and Ruddyâs Electrical will have back-to-back fixtures this weekend, when the Vinlec North Leeward Twenty/20 Cricket Competition hosts another round of matches at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}
On Saturday, from 10 a.m., RSVG Police will face Rose Bank United, then from 1:30 p.m., the lawmen will take on defending champions Circumstance.
Meanwhile, Ruddyâs Electrical square off with Summerset from 10 a.m. and Robertson Surveying will battle Future Legends.
When the competition continued last weekend, there were wins for North Stars, Ajuba of Spring Village, Coulls Hill Rangers and Peto Stars.
North Stars of Troumaca defeated Future Legends of Rose Hall by four runs in a match reduced to 15 overs because of a late start. North Stars scored 146 for 8 off 15 overs. Dean Browne hit 24.
Vernon Primus with 3 for 24 and Amansford Richards, 2 for 17, were the main wicket takers for Future Legends.
But Future Legends fell short, making 142 for 8 off the same 15 overs. Benniton Stapleton stroked 38. There were two wickets each for Dean Browne, Javon Samuel and Renaldo Coombs.
In Saturdayâs second match, Ajuba of Spring Village outlasted Summerset of Fitz-Hughes by 79 runs.
Ajuba rattled up 218 for 6 off 20 overs. Ajubaâs batting was led by the hard-hitting Roneil Jeffery, who stroked 56, not out. Kenny Stapleton made 49, Michael Joseph, 38, and Leon Samuel, 35.
Summersetâs reply ended at 139 all out from their 15 overs.
Coulls Hill Rangers won from Sharps United of Chateaubelair by three wickets.
Sharps United registered 138 all out in 16.4 overs, with Winston Skinner, the lead batsman, making 58.
For Coulls Hill Rangers, Peter Morris grabbed 3 for 21 and Leon Quashie, 3 for 35.
In their run chase, Coulls Hill Rangers reached 139 for 7 in 18.2 overs. Akeem Shallow, 32, and Orlando Charles, 28, were the principal scorers.
And, Peto Stars of Petit Bordel bettered Carlos James of Troumaca Starlight by seven runs.
Ronique Laborde led with 36, and there were two wickets each for Kentish John, Dorsen Cottle, Zimron Providence and Donald Delpesche.
Troumaca Starlight were stifled for 139 for 9 off their 20 overs, with Keshawn Lewis, 23, and Kishnel John, 21, being the main contributors.
Bowling for Peto Stars, Vidal Edwards had 3 for 26 and Kenrick Westfield, 3 for 36.
