Four teams gain wins in Vinlec North Leeward Cricket weekend
There were wins for RSVG Police, Carlos James Troumaca Starlight, Peto Stars and Somerset in last weekendâs matches of the VINLEC North Leeward T20 Cricket Competition at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}
In Saturdayâs first match, RSVG Police, playing the first of their back-to-back matches, defeated Sharps United by three wickets. Batting first, Sharps United reached 143 for 7 off 15 overs, as the match was reduced because of a late start. Leading the way for Sharps United was Christopher Howe, who stroked 55. There were two wickets each for Elmore Alexander, Kenneth Dember and Parnel Browne, bowling for the law enforcers.
In reply, RSVG Police got to 145 for 7 off 14 overs; Kenneth Dember â 38 and Parnel Browne â 28, were the main contributors. Terry Williams had 2 for 21 and Hosani Porter 2 for 29, in a losing cause for Sharps United. But RSVG Police did not sustain the momentum and fell to Carlos James Troumaca Starlight by one wicket. RSVG Police were dismissed for 105 off 15.4 overs, with Darell Sam hitting 29.
Bowling for Troumaca Starlight, Kentish John picked off 3 for 22, Zimron Providence 3 for 23 and Kwando Lewis 3 for 25. Troumaca Starlight then made 109 for 9 off 18.4 overs. Their lead batsman was Leshawn Lewis, who stroked 32, while Parnel Browne had 3 for 12 and Elmore Alexander 3 for 22, bowling for RSVG Police.
On Sunday, Peto Stars defeated Rose Bank United by 35 runs.
Peto Stars scored 218 for 7 off 20 overs; Jamuel Matthews, 70, Ronique Laborde, 40, Allison Samuel, 27 and Shammon Hooper, 25, all made scores of significance.
Rose Bank United, though, stopped at 183 for 7 from their 20 overs. William Edwards hit 38, Stinson Ince, 25 and Easton Robertson, 25, with Shammon Hooper taking 3 for 35.
And, Somerset had a 12 run triumph over Big League.
Somerset scored 154 for 6 off 20 overs. Jadiel Chance minced 56, with Jade John getting 2 for 27, bowling for Big League.
However, Big Leagueâs response was short circuited by the bowling of Adeen Charles â 3 for 32, Bishon Williams â 2 for 22 and Jadiel Chance â 2 for 29, to be dismissed for 142 in 19.4 overs.
Logan Roberts with 25 and Omalie Lavia, 21, were the principal scorers in the vain run chase.
Another four matches are carded for this weekend.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. Circumstance meet Rose Bank United; then from 1:30 p.m. Ruddyâs Electrical face Somerset.
Sundayâs fixtures see Ajuba taking on Big League from 10 a.m., to be followed by North Stars versus Upsetters from 1:30 p.m.(RT)
