Golden Girls win North Leeward women’s softball cricket title
Golden Girls of Fitz Hughes emerged Champions, defeating Attack Girls of Spring Village by nine runs when the final of the DMG North Leeward Womenâs competition took place last Sunday at Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}
Golden Girls Batted first and made 81 all out in 13 overs. Tonicia Creese led with 14, while Jenifer Charles took 4 for 16, bowling for Attack Girls.
Attack Girls got to 73 for 6 in their allotted 15 overs. Jennifer Charles 23 and Sandra Samuel 19 were the main contributors for Attack Girls. Daniel George, who took two wickets in the final over with Attack Girls needing 10 runs, finished with 2 for 19.
George and Jennifer Charles shared the player of the final award and will receive their prizes when the organisers hold the presentation ceremony.
But it was Shannel Mc Kie of Golden Girls with 282 runs and 10 wickets, who was the MVP of tournament and MVP of team.
Sherrion Williams of Attack Girls scored the most runs in the competition â 414, and was the choice for her teamâs MVP award.
Capturing the most wickets in the competition was Yoland Granderson of Upsetters, who scalped 19 wickets and added her teamâs MVP award to her good.
The other MVP awards were to Pathesha Lewis of Simple Champion for her 228 runs and 7 wickets; Kayandra Lewis Coreas Troumaca – 235 runs and 4 wickets, Jussel Jack for Ghetto Girls – 117 runs and 14 wickets, Veron Edwards – Rose Bank United – 152 runs and 12 wickets and Judith Bowens of Pace setters – 157 runs and 7 wickets.
