Cavaliers on the hunt in BCL 20/20
Defending Twenty/20 champions of the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL) Cavaliers Sports Club is on the hunt to retain their title.
And, last Sunday another step in this realization was taken at Marine Park A, when they defeated Diplomats of Guyana.{{more}}
Cavaliers, of Vincentian origin, batted first and totalled 163 for 6 from their 20 overs. Nicholas Browne scored 54, Alston Michael, 28, Casper Davis, 24 and Timothy Warner, 21.
Bowling for Diplomats, Swanson Benjamin picked up 3/31.
Diplomats replied with 102 for 5 from 20 overs; Richard Coats was 29 not out, Tevin Campbell, 28 not out and Romario Neil, 28.
Bowling for Cavaliers, Ezekiel Williams had 2/24, as Cavaliers won by 61 runs.
Also on Sunday, there was an all-Vincy clash at Marine Park B, when Queensbury faced Middlesex.
Taking first knock and with players short, Middlesex got to 146 for 5 from their 20 overs. Mark Audain stroked 6 fours and a six in his knock of 57. Bowling for Queensbury, Fitzroy Caesar took 2/24.
In reply, Queensbury were 124 all out from 19.3 overs.
Bowling for Middlesex, Rod Michael had 3/27 and Alston Bacchus, 2/16, to win by 22 runs.
Last Saturdayâs matches were affected by rain; decisions on those matches are still pending.
Tomorrow, Saturday, will feature two Vincy clashes, when Cavaliers and Middlesex face off at Marine Park C and Queensbury and Imperial do battle at Seaview.
On Sunday, Middlesex will play Yankees at Marine Park C.(RT)
