BSA to appoint interim committee
The apparent lethargy among sportsmen and sportwomen has hit another sporting organization here, forcing the Barrouallie Sports Association (BSA) to put an interim committee in place to man its affairs for the next six months.{{more}}
This has become necessary following a no-show at the organizationâs Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, July 16 at the Barrouallie Government School.
The BSA initially scheduled the meeting for July 13, at the same venue. That meeting was postponed and notice was given for the July 16 date.
Reports are that the new date was met with little response from affiliates.
According to a release from the BSA, the affiliate members consisted of all teams which had participated in competitions under the aegis of the BSA for the last two years.
President of the BSA Lorson Lewis told SEARCHLIGHT last Friday that the poor turnout may be a show of confidence in his organizationâs work over the last two years.
âSeemingly there isnât much opposition to the present executive body, and the majority are still willing to continue serving their community,â Lewis said.
In outlining the next move, Lewis revealed, âAn interim committee will be named in the short future, and will serve until the next annual general meeting, due in January; at this meeting the elections process will be part of the agenda.â
Meanwhile, the next major undertaking of the BSA is the hosting of the annual Barrouallie Football League, which is set to commence Sunday, August 7, at the Keartons Playing Field.
Competition will be held in the Senior, Under-17 and Under-13 Divisions.
Teams wishing to participate are informed that they may collect registration forms from any member of BSA or via email at baggasports@gmail.com.(RT)
