The Vincentians, playing on home soil, tallied 21 points ahead of Grenada and St Lucia, who both recorded 15 points to be joint second place, with Dominica finishing at the bottom on 9 points.
But it was far from a convincing retention by St Vincent and the Grenadines, who won last yearâs outing in Dominica, breaking a seven-year drought. This yearâs title was secured last Sunday at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field, as the hosts held on for a nervy draw.
Set an improbable 241 to win by Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines battled to 94 for 7. Urnel Thomas made 34 and Dillon Douglas â 28. Darel Cyrus picked up 3 for 28.
This, after Grenada belatedly declared their second innings at 206 for 3, placing greater emphasis on Emmanuel Stewart getting to his century than the team pressing for an outright win.
Stewart hit 7 fours and 2 sixes in his 102 not out, with Ryan John making 40 not out and Jamal Charles â 38.
The extended stay at the crease by Grenada proved costly, as it left them with not enough time to dismiss St Vincent and the Grenadines.
When play started on Saturday, Grenada won the toss, decided to bat first and were dismissed for 129. Emmanuel Stewart scored 38 not out, Anil Matthew â 34 and Jason Mitchell â 20.
Othniel Lewis took 5 for 40 and Rasheed Fredericks 4 for 42.
In response, St Vincent and the Grenadines were 95 all out. Husani Porter struck 32.
Ryan John â 5 for 18 and Darron Nedd â 3 for 16 were Grenadaâs most successful bowlers, as Grenada took first innings points and a 34-run lead.
Meanwhile, in gaining full points versus St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada was thankful to captain Othneil Lewis, who made 74, helping the team recover from 94 for 7, to reach 180 all out. Lewisâ knock consisted of 6 fours and 2 sixes. Kody Horne scored 23. Bowling for St Lucia, Shadrak Descartes had 4 for 22, Collinus Callendar â 2 for 18 and Johnnel Eugene â 2 for 39.
Four run-outs, along with the bowling of Othniel Lewis â 3 for 31 and Rasheed Fredericksâ 2 for 21 saw St Lucia dismissed for 98. Kimani Melius top scored with 20.
The hosts, on a lead of 82 on first innings, declared their second visit to the crease at 153 for 6, to set St Lucia 236 to win.
Dillon Douglas struck 56 not out, Urnel Thomas hit 32 and Vincent Cupid â 20. Callinus Callendar took 2 for 19, bowling for St Lucia.
In their run chase, St Lucia was sent packing for 141. Othniel Lewis took 4 for 39 and Rasheed Fredericks â 4 for 45.
