St Mary’s RC takes Kiddy Cricket Quiz title
The St Maryâs Roman Catholic Schoolâs pair of Luke Wilson and Solomon Bascombe outwitted the other finalists in the Scotia Bank Kiddy Cricket Quiz competition last Friday at the CW Prescod Primary School.{{more}}
Wilson and Bascombe tabulated 142 points, dethroning the Layou Government School, which had to settle for the second place. Layouâs all-girl representation of Jonya Samuel and Jonique Primus combined to score 128 points.
It was the third consecutive year that Wilson was representing his school at the final, and the first time successful.
The six other schools were closely bunched. Taking the third place was the Diamond Government â 122 points, with fourth placed Richland Park Government registering 121 points.
Fitz-Hughes Government finished on 119 points, to place fifth; Paradise was sixth on 116 points, with the Clare Valley Government and the Stubbs Primary both tallying 112 points.
Students were tested on written multiple choice items and open-ended questions, which required verbal responses.
Forty-six schools participated in the quiz competition.
Next on the Kiddy Cricket programme of events is a one-week camp in August. At the camp, 60 of the most skilled Kiddy Cricketers will get another opportunity to fine tune their abilities, as well as be exposed to some life skills.(RT)
