Middlesex swamp Imperial in BCL clash

Middlesex came away the better bunch on Saturday at Marine Park A, when they faced fellow Vincentian team – Imperial in the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL).

With Marine Park A being the battleground, Middlesex won the toss and took first strike, rattling up 250 for 3 from 30 overs.{{more}}

The opening pair of Mark Audain and Debrup Bhatachi compiled 158. Audain lashed 9 fours and 3 sixes in his 87, while Bhatachi’s 71 contained 10 fours.

Also contributing to Middlesex’s total were Rashane Manning – 36 and Tegana McKenzie – 31 not out. Manning stroked 4 fours, while Mc Kenzie hit 3 fours and a six.

Imperial were then blasted out for 32, with Dominic Audain taking 7 for 9, inclusive of a hat-trick, to chart Middlesex’s 218-run victory.

But Imperial returned to the same venue on Sunday, with a victorious ending versus Diplomats, a Guyanese outfit.

Diplomats, taking first strike, were dismissed for 162; Romario Neil – 25, Selwyn Smith – 22 and Kevin Charles – 21, were the main scorers.

Bowling for Imperial, Edward Lewis had 3 for 31, Cecil Glasgow – 2 for 28 and Immamol Hassan – 2 for 37.

Replying, Imperial made 163 for 5, with Immamol Hassan the top scorer with 60 not out, to see his team to a five-wicket win.

Meanwhile, defending champions Cavaliers, on Sunday, continued their winning ways, with a 32-run win over Queensbury, in another all Vincy showdown.

Scores: Cavaliers 127 all out. Nicholas Browne scored 32 and Casper Davis 22.

There were two wickets apiece for Andy Douglas and Bruno Henry, while Fitzroy Caesar grabbed three scalps.

Queensbury, in response, fell short, making 95, as Timothy Warner and Casper Davis took four and two wickets respectively, bowling for Cavaliers.(RT)
