GTC hits target for SVGTA
The Grassroot Tennis Club (GTC) aimed at realising $1,500 through a fund-raiser â a barbecue, which was held last Friday at the Haddon Hotels courts at Murrayâs Road.
The effort was to assist the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association (SVGTA) in staging the 2016 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior tournament next month.{{more}}
A cheque in the targetted sum, along with radios to assist the umpires at the event, were handed over at the GTC by top junior player Antonio Cain to Deborah King, vice-president of the SVGTA.
The handing over was witnessed by other top players from the GTC.
Grant Connell, director of the GTC, thanked all the individuals and business places which contributed to the venture.
Connell singled out Stephen Joachim of the Mustique Company, as well as Keith Boyea of BMC Agencies, for their companiesâ generosity in supporting the venture.
Connell also thanked the GTC team, whom he said worked extremely hard to make the event a success.
In her response, King stated that the kind assistance of GTC was greatly appreciated and they looked forward to working with the club in the future.
In addition, Connell revealed that the GTC has plans to have a monthly event to support a certain cause, but he did not give details.
The next event scheduled at the Grassroot Tennis Club is the annual Summer Camp, slated for July 11-22.(RT)
