Alexander heads SVG’s team to OECS Track and Field Championships
Kineke Alexander will head the St Vincent and the Grenadines contingent to the second hosting of the OECS Track and Field Championships at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds, in Tortola, the British Virgin Islands.
Alexander is the reigning champion in the womenâs 200 and 400 m, titles she won when the inaugural championships were hosted in 2014 in St Kitts.{{more}}
She and 16 other athletes will carry the torch for St Vincent and the Grenadines at the championships this Saturday and Sunday.
The Vincentian team comprises 17 athletes â 11 males and six females.
The males are Josh Hamilton, twin brothers Rebeurth and Reberto Boyde, Kimorie Shearman, Brandon Parris, Akani Slater, Courtney Williams, Kasique Oliver, Delhonni Nicol-Samuel, Richard Crick and Jumonne Exeter.
Other than Kineke Alexander, the others making up the female selectees are Shantel Williams, Daria Mathias, Sorenya Miller, Zita Vincent and Tamara Woodley.
The officials travelling are Chester Morgan â coach, Andrew Bramble â manager and Alexandra Waldron â chaperone.
Apart from St Vincent and the Grenadines, participation will come from Anguilla, St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, Dominica, St Lucia, Grenada and host the British Virgin Islands.
Reports are that most of the participating territories will have the bulk of their top athletes, many of whom are based in the USA.(RT)
