Guinness Street Football Challenge finals to kick off next Thursday
On Thursday, June 9, four teams will vie for a chance to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines in the 2016 regional finals of the Guinness Street Football Challenge in St Lucia.{{more}}
The fourth and final leg of the local Guinness Street Football Challenge took place last Saturday at the arch in Chateaubelair and saw Digicel Emilyâs Strikers taking home the spoils.
By winning on Saturday, Digicel joins Pyola of Layou, Mad Rockers, also of Layou and Team Crew in the finals of the local leg of competition which will take place in Barrouallie.
Pyolaâs players are Lemus Christopher, Jalen Miller, Kevin Samuel, Dequan Springer, Kendal Douglas, Javid Matthews and Tevin John. The teamâs manager is Andre Robinson and the coach is Javi John.
Mad Rockers is made up of Chester Morgan, Teiron Miller, Wendell Cuffy, Sherwin Miller, Gibron Gordon, Dennis Prescott and manager Randow Simper.
Team Crew is made up of Juma Jilkes, Theon Gordon, Dwayne Dennie, Nicolai Williams, Kirk Williams, Rohan Thomas Junior, Jonte James and manager Paul Farrel.
Digicel Emilyâs Strikers is made up of Mark King, Azhino Solomon, Devon âDevilâ Browne, Eardley Wilson, Victor Boyea, Antonio Samuel, Ishmael Peters and is led by manager Lyf Compton.
Teams that came out on top in the four preliminary rounds received EC$1,500 and five cases of Guinness, while the team that wins on the night of the finals will get US$1,000 and a chance to represent SVG in St Lucia at the regional finals, which will be played during two days of competition on July 2 and July 3.
