Groove Street Ballers boss Biabou Football League title

Hairoun Beer Groove Street Ballers have bossed the Biabou Football League title.

Groove Street Ballers’ crowning moment came last Sunday at the Biabou Playing Field, as they defeated the 2015 champions SV United 4-3 in kicks from the penalty spot.

This, after both teams had played to a 2-2 tie in regulation time, in a ding- dong battle for honours.{{more}}

Brad Richards opened Groove Street Ballers’ account, only to see his strike cancelled out by Kemron Osment.

Shorn Browne’s second half item put SV United in the ascendancy, but a timely header from Dimitri Carrington, late in the match, levelled the score.

The riveting penalty kicks saw both teams missing two in their first round of five.

In sudden death, SV United missed, only for Kenroy Williams to slot home his, giving Groove Street Ballers the title, the challenge trophy, the winner’s trophy, $1,500, medals and beverages.

Runner-up SV United gained a trophy, medals, $1,200 and beverages.

In getting to last Sunday’s final, Groove Street Ballers got past Sparta FC, 3-1 in kicks from the penalty spot, after the contest ended 1-1.

SV United though did not need that route, as they had a one-nil triumph over Biabou Stingers in their semi-final match up.

Biabou Stingers went on to take the third spot, defeating Sparta FC 5-2 in the play-off.

Biabou Stingers claimed a trophy and $1,000.

Walvaroo City took the knockout title, defeating SV United 3-2 in the final of the elimination competition.(RT)
