Gilkesâ three goals forced the Ministry of Education to settle for second place, as the Ministry of Tourism ran away 3-1 winners. Diquan Pierre had pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time, after Gilkes had opened his teamâs account as early as the third minute.
Gilkesâ hat-trick pushed his tally to nine, which placed him as the competitionâs top goal scorer.
Before last Thursdayâs final, the two had contrasting wins in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
Two goals from Rodney Small gave Tourism their 2-0 win over Inland Revenue.
However, one goal, albeit an own goal, was enough for Education to go through against the Ministry of National Security.
Education benefitted when Kevon Samuel inadvertently put the ball into his own net.
In the third place play-off, which preceded last Thursdayâs final, two goals from Haj Barker and one from Kalique Hunte were enough to give Inland Revenue an easy 3-0 win, over an under-manned Ministry of National Security, which only played with three players.
Next on the sporting calendar of the inter-ministerial and statutory bodies sporting activities will be the domino competition, which starts in two weeks time.(RT)
