Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT at the presentation ceremony for the 2016 Secondary Schoolsâ Volleyball Competition last Thursday, Mc Master stated: âCurrently, the female and male Under-23 teams are in training in preparation for their tournaments next month… Our Under-21 male team would be journeying to Canada from July 3 to 11 for the NORCECA continental competition… Starting as early as the end of July, would be the World Cup qualifiers.â
Mc Master, however, noted, âOur focus continues to be on the development of our grassroots structure.â
A delighted Mc Master, in reviewing the latest schoolsâ tournament, said that it was a step in the right direction to have matches played other than at the Girlsâ High School, but also at the auditorium of the Georgetown Secondary School and on the compound of the George Stephens Senior Secondary School.
In fact, both the male and female finals were contested at the Georgetown Secondary School.
Taking both titles was the Georgetown Secondary, with the George Stephens Secondary, second and the West St George Secondary, third, in the male segment.
Runner-up in the female bracket was the Girlsâ High School, with the West St George Secondary placing third.
Similarly, the Georgetown Secondary won the most valuable players awards, with Ronaldo Franklyn being the male recipient and for another time, Shernell Browne, the female selectee.(RT)
