Black Sands Swim Squad take Sprint Challenge
The Black Sands Swim Squad dominated the CGM Sprint Challenge, held at Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre, last Friday and Saturday evening.
The club showed its prowess in most of the age categories, capturing 10 first places.{{more}}
Among Black Sandsâ triumphs was Eltonique Leonard, who won the Girls 6 and under, while Tia Gun Munroe champed the 9-10 age group.
The other top places gained by Black Sands in the girls segment went to Paige Cadogan, Ria Adams and Shne Joachim, who were the 11-12, 13-14 and 15-16 winners, respectively.
The males claiming the first places on behalf of Black Sands were Eltonte Leonard (9-10), Alex Joachim (11-12), Tyrique Thomas (13-14), Nikolas Sylvester (15-16) and Gerard Gieowarsing in the 18 and over.
Other Black Sands swimmers who returned creditable efforts were Denique Wright, Mya De Freitas, Caitlin Polius and Aaron De Freitas.
They were among the 49 who represented the Black Sands Swim Squad, which on the two days also exposed swimmers who were entering competitive swimming for the first time.
Taking their debut dip were Kiana Bailey, Isabella Bolls, Benjamin Cyrus, Aidan De Freitas, Joseph Hadley, Liam Hadley, Noah Hadley, Scarlett Hadley, Aaron Laidlow, Anya Octave, Chayse Roberts and Nexeda Sargeant.
Black Sands Swim Squadâs head coach Kyle Dougan expressed great satisfaction with the efforts and results of all the clubâs swimmers.
He noted that this would not have been achieved without the hard work and support of all Black Sand coaching staff, inclusive of Xavion Caesar, Roy Bradshaw, Fiana McMillan and Anne Weinhart.
Dougan thanked the meetâs sponsors, CGM, and the SVG Swimming Federation, as well as the parents and supporters in attendance for providing âan electric atmosphere and fantastic backdrop for the swimmers to compete in and enjoyâ.(RT)
