Simple Boyz keep going in Clinchers Softball Competition

Defending champions of the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Compe-tition Gairy Construction Simple Boyz, had a comfortable 76-run win over Calder United on Sunday at the Richland Park Playing Field, as they stay in the hunt to retain their title.{{more}}

Batting first, Simple Boyz posted 164 for 7 from their 20 overs. Stein Joseph and Rohan Dowers both struck five sixes and a four in their knocks of 43 and 41 respectively.

Bowling for Calder United, William Nanton took 3 for 19.

In reply, Calder United scored 88 all out in 18.4 overs. Kenny Hunte picked off 4 for 3, bowling for Simple Boyz.

Also on Sunday, Sion Hill Tallawahs thrashed Budgmart Simple Touch by six wickets.

Simple Touch was routed for 34 in 13.3 overs, with Shanley Lavia grabbing 5 for 13.

Sion Hill Tallawahs reached 36 for 4 in 6.4 overs.

In Sunday’s other fixture, Nice Radio Clinchers had a similar six-wicket triumph over Smart Strikers.

Smart Strikers got to 91 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Oheyon Toby taking 3 for 18.

Clinchers then rushed to 96 for 4 in 11.4 overs. Darron Dallaway, in a boundary filled innings of 36, belted four sixes and two fours, to lead Sion Hill Tallawahs’ successful run chase. Desron Spring contributed 27.

Dennis Grant took 3 for 41, in a losing cause for Simple Touch.

Shanley Lavia of Sion Hill Tallawahs was named Player of the Weekend.

On Saturday, Gomea Bombers and Country Meet Town Out Ah Trouble chalked up wins.

Gomea Bombers beat Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem by six wickets.

Nar Fren Dem could only make 51 in 14.1 overs, as they were stifled by the bowling of Ramon Sayers, 3 for 8, and Glenroy John, 3 for 9.

Gomea Bombers, in reply, made 55 for 4 in 14.2 overs. Their total was headed by Raffique Sayers, who stroked five fours and a six, in his 34.

And, Out Ah Trouble handed Fully Loaded Ballerz a 59-run loss.

Out Ah Trouble triumphed on the back of Mickel Mapp, who blasted six sixes and a four in his 42, to help his team to 143 for 6 in 20 overs. Javid Harry also contributed 25.

Fully Loaded Ballerz scored 84 in reply, as Westwick Straugh grabbed 4 for 9 and Onico Ottley, 3 for 10.

Shanley Lavia was named Player of the Weekend for his bowling efforts for Sion Hill Tallwahas versus Simple Touch.
