SVG make another trumping of OECS Junior Squash Tournament
St Vincent and the Grenadines won seven out of the individual titles which were at stake at the 16th hosting of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Junior Squash Tourna-ment, which took place in Tortola, April 15 to 17.{{more}}
Giovanna Miller was responsible for three of the titles, as she grasped the girls Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17.
Miller, on her way to the Under-13 title, beat Darci Reich of the host, the British Virgin Islands, 3-0 and copped the Under-15, winning by the default route also over Reich.
Upping her levels, Miller also took out fellow Vincentian Jada Ross 3-1 in the decider for the Under-17.
Pouching two titles was Kai Bentick, who was the champion in the boys Under-15 and Under-17.
In an all-Vincentian showdown, Bentick overcame Rashid Constance 3-0 (11-4, 11-3, 11-2) in the Under-15 and Mikal Quashie also 3-0 (11-1, 11-5, 11-5) in the Under-17.
Meanwhile, the two Under-19 titles came the Vincentiansâ way through the skills of Jada Ross and Jason Doyle.
Ross bossed the girlsâ title 3-2 at the expense of Kristen Gordon of the BVI, while Doyle outlasted his teammate Kai Bentick 3-0 (11-7, 11-2, 11-6) in the boys bracket.
Host the BVI scooped the boys Under -11 and Under-13. Luca Reich saw off Jasper Forte 3-0 to take the Under-11, while Alex Fountain won by the same margin over Tai Thomas, as both finals were contested by players from the host nation.
And, Nadira Morgan, who was making her debut at the sub-regional level and who competed in the Under-13, captured the Sportsmanship of the Tournament award.
Only the host and St Vincent and the Grenadines were represented in the three-day tournament.
