Country Pirates nab Town Sharks in Rugby 15’s opening salvo

Country Pirates were off to a winning start last Saturday in the re-launch of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union’s 15’s League competition.{{more}}

Confronting Town Sharks at the Calliaqua Playing Field, the Pirates were led from in front with two tries from George Gruger and one from Dellon Durrant, to end the halfway mark 15-10 in their team’s favour.

Justin Title and Shane Samuel had a try each for the Town Sharks.

The second period saw Country Pirates continuing their stranglehold on the match, as Kit Horne, Ronald Richards and Giles Garraway each registered tries to finish the contest 30-25.

Samuel, with two tries and Title – one, accounted for the additions to Town Sharks’ final tally.

Country Pirates will next be in action on Saturday, April 30, when they face off with Leeward Invaders, also from 2 p.m. at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.

The other team in the competition is Canouan All Blacks.
