Individual champs awarded at Inter-Secondary Schools’ Athletics meet
Those athletes who stood above their peers during the hosting of this yearâs National Lotteries Authority Inter-Secondary Schoolsâ Athletics Cham-pionships, which concluded last Thursday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, were duly acknowledged with the presentation of their individual awards.{{more}}
Copping the Male Junior Champion was the St Martinâs Tyrique Bushay, who had 33 points. Bushay bettered his schoolmate Marc James and the St Vincent Grammar Schoolâs Verrol Sam, who both had 22 points.
The St Josephâs Convent Marriaquaâs Grenisha Thomas was in front among the females in the Junior Division. Thomasâ 42 points saw her above her nearest rival, Mac Kayla Mc Dowall, also of the same institution. Mc Dowall registered 34 points and Andrea Gonsalves, of the sister school St Josephâs Convent Kingstown, was third with 19 points.
Taking the Male Intermediate Champion was the Grammar Schoolâs Javon Rawlins, with 47 points, edging out Brad Slater of the Bethel High School â 45 points, with Truloni Mc Kenzie of the St Martinâs Secondary â third on 24 points.
The Girlsâ High Schoolâs Tamara Woodley trumped the Female Intermediate title, scoring 41 points, 10 more than Daria Matthias of the St Josephâs Convent Kingstown and Zamesha Myle of the Thomas Saunders Secondary.
Ahead in the Male Seniors was the Bethel High Schoolâs Slyford Lampkin, whose 28 points left the Central Leeward Secondaryâs Dexroy Wilson in second place with 25 points, while both John Compton of the St Vincent Grammar School and OJ Jackson of the Interme-diate High were joint third place on 20 points.
And, Shantel Williams continued from where she left off in 2015, as the elevation to the Senior Division did not change much, as she was the champion. Williams, who was last yearâs Intermediate Champion, gathered 34 individual points.
Trailing her were Shania Hoyte of Central Leeward Secondary â 21 points and Sherrine Sylvester, St Josephâs Convent Kingstown â 20 points.
Thomas and Rawlins were Victrix and Victor Ludorum, respectively.
Three of the divisional winners in Rawlins, Woodley and Williams were part of the St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ team to the 45th hosting of the Junior Carifta Games, which were staged in Grenada over the Easter weekend.(RT)
