Taking the Cyclist of the Year award was Cameron “Cammie “Adams. He was also the top rider among those categorized in the elite division.

Joining in the spotlight was Peter Durrant, who for the third year running, was the Champion Cyclist in the Masters’ Division. Durrant’s other trophy was for most consistent performer.

And, like Durrant, Niesha Alexander was out front in the small field of female cyclists and was the clear-cut choice for Female Cyclist of the Year.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, president of the SVG Cycling Union Trevor Bailey called for more governmental support for the sport through direct investments.

Bailey also asked for greater co-operation from the motoring public when the union hosts its regular road races and for more police outriders to assist in this regard.

Also giving remarks at the closing were Henry Mangal – former president of the St Lucia Cycling Association and Ces Mc Kie – Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture.(RT)
