After bossing the 2015-2016 Georgetown competition, the teams LP Netters and Wanderers gave birth to LP Combined, which was the correct blend, as they overcame Hard Knock Boys in Sundayâs final.
LP Combined took the contest 59-49, despite having to contend with the partisan support which was in the corner of their all male opponents.
Their voices, however, were muted by the efforts of national player Gailene Gordon, who registered 39 of her 45 attempts and Kemeisha Antoine poured in 20 of her 26.
For the second place Hard Knock Boys, Otis Hector put in 42 of his 51 and Alistair Williams had 7 of his 11 successfully recorded.
Hard Knock Boys, who also placed second in 2015, had defeated defending champions High Park United in the semi-finals, 65-62, to set up the meeting with LP Combined, who had dismissed Berlin Strikers, 68-28.
For winning the title, LP Combined secured the first place trophy and $1,500, while Hard Knock Boys earned $1,000 and third placed Berlin Strikers â $800.
Awards
LP Combinedâs Vasha Adams was adjudged the Best Defender and the competitionâs Most Valuable Player. Perennial winner of the Most Goals award in several local netball competitions Skiddy Francis-Crick of High Park United again made it a matter of course, as her 349 goals surpassed all the other goal shootersâ tally.
Meanwhile, 3Jâs Valley Strikersâ duo of Julicia Matthews and Kawana Bacchus were handed the Youngest Player and Most Promising Player awards, respectively.
Their team also won the Most Disciplined Team trophy.
The awards of the most valuable player of each of the nine teams went to Joseann Antoine â Berlin Strikers, Shannique De Shong â LP Combined, while Mia Fredericks gained the award for Nar Fren Dem and Otis Hector â Hard Knock Boys.
