Also speaking at the opening, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Luke Browne underscored the virtues of the civil servants getting involved in physical activities.

According to director of physical education and sports Nelson Hillocks, among the ethos of the sports and games among the various government ministries and statutory bodies are team work, respect and peace, love and unity, discipline, dedication, and determination.

On the programme of events is the Street 20 Cricket, which is set for this month, with the month of April designated to small-goal football and fun and recreation activities, scheduled to take place at the Grammar School Playing Field.

Volleyball is slated for the Girls’ High School hard court during May, to be followed by table tennis.

After a break for Carnival celebrations and the August vacation, netball will take the spotlight in September, with a variety of fun afternoons fixtured for October.

Organizers last Tuesday used the occasion to hand out the trophies won in the three competitions contested in 2015.

Results from last year, the Ministry of Transport and Works took the street cricket and football titles, with the Ministry of National Reconciliation – the table tennis component.
