Stage all set for packed football weekend
An inter-league semis replay, a celebrity match and an over-40 classic will consume the Victoria Park this Friday and Sunday.{{more}}
An undertaking by Awesome Sports International Inc. and endorsed by the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF), the four semi-finalists in last yearâs national Inter-community League Compe-tition will square off tonight, as the weekend of action opens up.
Calliaqua and defending champions South Leeward will square off at 6:30 this evening; then losing finalist Central Kingstown and East Kingstown rumble.
The two winners meet on Sunday in the grand finale, with US$1,000 awaiting the winner and US$500 for second place.
On the other hand, the two losing semi-finalists gain EC$500 each, plus two cases of beverages.
Before the final on Sunday, the Tyrone âTweetyâ Spence Over 40 Classic, involving past national players, will be played to honour Spence, a former national player and stalwart defender, who died last October.
The football package on Sunday will also include a âcelebrity matchâ, which should feature a host of public personalities from all spheres of popular active life.(RT)
