Simple Boyz get going in Clinchers Softball Cricket
Defending champions Gairy Construction Simple Boyz got their campaign in the 2016 Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T20 Softball Cricket Competition going last Sunday at the Richland Park Playing Field.{{more}}
Simple Boyz, when the dust settled at the venue, finished on top of Gomea Bombers by 84 runs.
Simple Boyz, on the back of an Adonis Nanton boundary-filled 57 not out, in which he slammed seven sixes and two fours, piled up 175 for 6 from 20 overs.
Gomea Bombers struggled to 91 for 8 from their 20 overs, with Kendol Hunte snaring 4 for 17.
Also in the ascendancy were Rate Yo Boyz Challengers, Rogers Photo Studio Fya ONE, CGM Gallagher Novice and RSVG Police.
On Saturday, Rate Yo Boyz Challengers defeated Budgmart Simple Touch by seven wickets.
Rate Yo Boyz Challengers scored 103 for 7 from their 20 overs. Dan Richardson made 27.
Garret Henry, 38 not out and Mc Kie Grant, 35 not out, both belted three sixes and a pair of fours.
In Saturdayâs other match, Rogers Photo Studio Fya ONE stopped Finishing & Furnishing KLT Strikers by 78 runs.
Fya ONE mounted 168 for 8 from their 20 overs.
Striking eight sixes and one four was Daverson Baptiste, who hit 58, while Teroy Baptisteâs 28 saw him hitting three sixes and two fours.
Bowling for KLT Strikers, Marlon Ottley took 3 for 28 and Tony Benjamin 3 for 30.
In reply, KLT Strikers were shot out for 90 in 19.2 overs. Gosnel Toney took 4 for 12, bowling for Fyah ONE.
On Sunday CGM Gallagher Novice outwitted Smart Strikers by five wickets.
Smart Strikers were dismissed for 45 in 14.3 overs, as Chrisroy King had figures of 3 for 12 and Sheldon Nanton 3 for 14.
In the weekendâs final match, RSVG Police got the better of Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem by 32 runs.
RSVG Police were 106 all out in 15.2 overs. Malcovin Jack scored 39, made up of four sixes and three fours, while Salvan Browneâs 34 saw him hitting four fours and two sixes.
Bowling for Nar Fren Dem, Cordis Oliver had 3 for 13 and Keno Mathews â 3 for 14.
Nar Fren Dem scored 74 in 15.4 overs. Osrick James took 3 for 16, and Glenroy Ash, 3 for 20.
Player of the weekend is Daverson Baptiste, with an innings of 58, including eight sixes and one four for Rogers Photo Studio Fya ONE against Finishing & Furnishing KLT Strikers.
