Commenting after dispatching Sunil Barker in the wee hours of Saturday morning, Casino said that he âfeels greatâ about qualifying for the finals once again this year, as he qualified last year at the Police Canteen in Kingstown.
âQualifying is a rough road; itâs like going through a hole in a needle, but I tried my best and won tonight,â said the excited pool player, who walked away with EC$500.
Commenting after losing to Casino, Sunil Barker, who is from Buccament, said that this was his first time in the competition.
âIn pool, your best is your worst; if you ainât play good, then you lose; thatâs pool. Iâve been playing a long time, too long to make he (Casino) beat me,â said Sunil Barker.
Moving to Bequia on Saturday, last yearâs champion Alson Barker reached the finals for the third time this year, but this time, he actually won, beating Mikey Bacchus.
âThis is the third time I reach finals this year. I was going and going and now I qualified and I feel real good I made it at last,â said Barker, who added, âTell Ozzie, Iâm coming for him.â
He said that he will be aiming to make it two in a row on March 12 and walk away with the EC$5,000 prize money. He took home EC$500 on Saturday.
Making it so far to the finals are Ozzie St Hillaire, Andy Lynch, Dygo Sergeant and Glenroy Cupid, who won the first, second, third and fourth legs respectively.
Action continues tomorrow Saturday, February 27 at Azard St Hill in Troumaca, while on Saturday, March 5, the eighth and final qualifying round will take place at the Tree House Bar in Arnos Vale.
Persons are encouraged to take up registration between 6 and 8 p.m. at the venue. To register, a competitor must purchase three Guinness beverages. Players will compete using the best of three format.
