The initiative of former national player Renson Haynes, through his promotion organization Awesome Sports International Inc, will see Calliaqua and South Leeward facing off from 6:30 p.m. on March 4, then Central Kingstown and East Kingstown play from 7:30 p.m. that same evening.
The two winners meet on Sunday, March 6, also at the Victoria Park, in the grand finale.
The team copping the top place earns US$1,000 and the second place, US$500.
Meanwhile, the two losing semi-finalists gain EC$500 each, plus two cases of beverages.
âThe intent of Awesome Sports International Inc is to make this Inter League Booster Cup an annual mini tournament, where the top four teams from the Inter League would have an additional incentive to look forward to,â a release stated.
Prior to the final, the Tyrone âTweetyâ Spence Over 40 Classic, will involve several past national players, in respect and memory of Spence, a former national player and stalwart defender.
âThis is a well-deserved match to show respect and honour to the late Tyrone âTweetyâ Spenceâ, Haynes, the founder of Awesome Sports International Inc said.
Haynes further stated that his intent is to incorporate an Over 40 Classic match in honour of a past national footballer each year, so it would be expected that a different national great (dead or alive) would be chosen and honoured each year.
Also on the packed night of football is a âCelebrity Matchâ, where patrons would have a chance to see well-known national figures exhibit their football skills at the Victoria Park.
It has been confirmed by president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation Venold Coombs that Dominique Stowe is the point man on the ground here, co-ordinating the event on behalf of Awesome Sports International.
