Cricket enthusiast makes donations

Cricket enthusiast Stanley Stephens made three donations at last Sunday’s opening of the 2016 national cricket programme at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Stephens, a Vincentian who resides in New York, made possible the awards for the top batsman and bowler in the festival match between the National XI and a President’s XI.

Casmond Walters was presented with cricket balls for making a top score of 68 for the National XI, while Senator Luke Browne, who took 3 for 11 and was outstanding in the field, also was the recipient of tokens.

Also at the receiving end of Stephens’ generosity was the Division of Physical Education and Sports, as they were presented with a quantity of sporting equipment.

Stephens, who is a leading light in the Imperial Cricket Club which is of Vincentian origin and which participates in the Brooklyn Cricket League, told SEARCHLIGHT that he is in the habit of giving.

“I made the donations on behalf of the Imperial Cricket Club,” Stephens said.

He revealed that he recently made a donation to his alma mater, the Lodge Village Primary School.

Stephens vowed to assist locally, especially cricket, whenever it is possible.(RT)
