Young Bush do hat-trick at Calliaqua Small Goal Football Competition

Young Bush ushered in 2016 as the champions of the annual Calliaqua New Year’s Day small goal football competition, as they did in 2014 and 2015.

This year’s competition took place last Friday at Cross Road, in the area known as the Culture Pot Square.

Facing No Nonsense Ballers in the final, it took penalty kicks to determine the winner, as both teams played goalless in the regulation and extra time.

Young Bush won one-nil in the penalty shoot-out.

In reaching the final, Young Bush ousted Shanti Lions 1-0, while No Nonsense Ballers had the same scoreline over Combine Youths.

For their efforts, Young Bush, apart from bragging rights, a trophy, food and drinks, won themselves seven tickets to a function held at Rawacou on the same day.

Second placed No Nonsense Ballers and third placed Shanti Lions were presented with trophies. The other participating teams were Blenders, Howards Marine, KP Marine and Young Ballers.

A host of individuals and firms contributed to the trophies and other forms of assistance, in ensuring that the 2016 edition was a success.(RT)
