Simple Boys seek hat-trick of titles in TBPO Softball Competition

Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys will be aiming to make a hat-trick of titles in the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organization’s Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition, when they face off with Nice Radio Clinchers in the final at the Dauphine Playing Field this Saturday, from 1:30 p.m.{{more}}

Simple Boys ensured that they made it four consecutive visits to the finals when they recorded a seven–wicket win over Stingers last Sunday in their semi-final match-up.

Stingers were dismissed for 96 for 8 in 20 overs, batting first. Bradley Richards top scored with 30.

Bowling for Simple Boys, Kentish Phillips took 3 for 7 and Travis Cumberbatch had 2 for 22.

Simple Boys responded with 101 for 3 in just 8.5 overs, led by Jabarri Cunningham’s 47 and Desron Maloney – 22. Bradley Richards crowned off a good all-round effort, taking 2 for 18.

In the other half of the semi-finals, Nice Radio Clinchers eked out a two-run win over Richmond Hill.

Clinchers batted first and made 92 all out in 17 overs; Kirton Lavia had 34.

Brothers – Zenroy Lee, 3 for 20, Justin Lee, 2 for 8 and Collin Lee, 2 for 19, shared the bowling spoils for Richmond Hill.

Zenroy Lee – 24 and Justin Lee – 21 were the main contributors for Richmond Hill with the bat, but their team fell short, dismissed for 90 in 20 overs.

Bowling for Clinchers, Kirton Lavia took 4 for 6 and Marlon Farrell 3 for 23.

Richmond Hill on Saturday had overcome Gomea Bombers by 18, to reach the last four.

Raydon Bentick – 59, Zenroy Lee – 32 and Marvin Harry – 23 combined to see Richmond Hill to 147 for 6 from their 20 overs. Ovando O’Brien, in between, collected 4 for 30.

Gomea Bombers’ reply stopped at 129 all out, with Edwin Joe making 53 and Omar Woods – 26.

Deptor Culzac took 3 for 51 and Collin Lee 2 for 31, bowling for Richmond Hill.

The third place play-off resulted in Stingers beating Richmond Hill by six wickets.

Lawrence Shoy made 29 in Richmond Hill’s total of 65 all out.

Bowling for Stingers, Adonis Nanton scooped 3 for 8; Bradley Richards – 3 for 18; Calbert Simmons – 2 for 13 and Kemron John – 2 for 14.

Stingers, in response, reached 71 for 4 in 12.3 overs; Zenroy Lee had 2 for 33, bowling for Richmond Hill.

Following Sunday’s final, the presentation ceremony will take place.
