Low registration forces cancellation of Round D Town Relay
Low registration has been cited by Team Athletics SVG as the reason for the cancellation of the Round D Town Road Relay, which had been set for last Sunday, November 29.
A release from TASVGâs general secretary Tyrone James said: âThe cancellation of the relay has been occasioned by the low registration of participating teams, which is understandable,{{more}} given the circumstances involving the scheduling of school examinations.â
James also thumbed the current âheady election campaign,â which according to him, âin particular has made access to the necessary logistics extremely difficult to control.â
The TASVG release ended: âTASVG regrets any inconvenience that this cancellation has caused, but deems it an unavoidable situation.â
The race, which would have taken place in the capital, would have seen each athlete in the four-leg event required to make one lap around Kingstown, with the lap beginning and ending in front of First Caribbean International Bank on Halifax Street.
Competition was set for the Under-15, Under-20 and Open categories, for both males and females.
TASVGâs closing event on its road racing calendar is the LOG Enterprise 5K, set for December 13, from Troumaca Bottom to FitzâHughes.(RT)
