Layou, Belair take primary schools TT team titles

The Layou and the Belair Government schools triumphed last Friday afternoon at the West St George Secondary School, penning their names as champions of the inaugural Primary Schools’ Table Tennis Tournament.{{more}}

Layou pouched the girls’ segment and Belair, the boys’ category. In taking the girls, Layou defeated the Gomea Methodist School 3-0.

Layou earned the convincing win through Sunica Clarke, who beat Zola Fraser 10/12, 11/7, 11/9, while Karissa Moses overcame Shelecia Joseph 11/5, 11/8 and Latisha Hendrickson outdid Shekeria Jack 11/8, 11/8.

Meanwhile, in the boys category, those responsible for the Belair Government’s triumph were Bennie Waldron, who outplayed Rasheed Wallace 11/3, 11/7 as well as Oryan Velox 11/5, 11/7 and Jelani Cumberbatch stopped Wallace 4/11, 8/11, 11/8.

Layou’s two wins came from the efforts of Oryan Velox, who displaced Jelani Cumberbatch 11/5, 9/11, 13/11 and Alanzo Jeffers beat Jolanzio Patterson 11/5, 7/11, 11/7.

The other participating teams among the males were the Layou Government team two and the Brighton Methodist School.(RT)
