Ballantyne redeems with Sion Hill Sprint win
Pamenos Ballantyne redeemed himself by taking the LOG Enterprise Sion Hill Sprint, staged last Sunday afternoon.
He won the race which started at the Sion Hill intersection, through Cane Garden, turning right onto Sharpe Street, then left on Granby Street, then on to Murrayâs Road and back to the Sion Hill intersection.{{more}}
After having to settle for second place in the Central Leeward 5K behind Akani Slater a week before, Ballantyne, who ran under the Chatoyer banner, clocked 14 minutes 34.98 seconds, just ahead of second placed Meshach Dublin of IT-DAT, in 14 minutes 37.16 seconds.
Taking the third place was Chatoyerâs Junior Ashton, who clocked 14 minutes 42.66 seconds in the Males 19 and Over category.
Lisa Mc Dowall, as expected, took the Female Over 19 segment in 16 minutes 23.03 seconds. Second was Sorenya Miller in 23 minutes 37.78 seconds and third â Tara Joseph, in 25 minutes 04.06 seconds, as IT-DAT took all three top places.
IT-DAT also claimed the top three places in the Male Under-19, with Akani Slater clocking 14 minutes 42.88 seconds; Ryan John â second in 15 minutes 11.66 seconds; and third, in 15 minutes 41.66 seconds, was Slyford Lampkin.
Britney Butler also of IT-DAT was the lone competitor in the Female Under-19. She timed 26 minutes 52.80 seconds.
Similarly Newman Peters of the St Martinâs Secondary School won the Male Under-15 with a winning time of 16 minutes 17.59 seconds. Docking in second was Joshua Ackie in 18 minutes 51.98 seconds and Kosnell Skerritt â third, in 20 minutes 12.06 seconds.
Both Ackie and Skerritt ran for newly rebranded High Performance.
Another High Performance representative Zita Vincent claimed the Females Under-15 in 20 minutes 17.53 seconds. Shanell Lampkin of IT-DAT was second in 26 minutes 12.28 seconds and Akasha Bess of the Intermediate High School, third in 26 minutes 23.88 seconds.
In the Male Veterans, Joonyah Garrick of Itâs a Fitness Thing was first in 21 minutes 09.88 seconds, with Leonard Ballantyne second in a time of 21 minutes 37.20 seconds.
Samantha Lynch, who represented Sa Sa Club, won the Veteransâ Female segment in 24 minutes 12.45 seconds.
The next event is the NACAC 10K, which takes place November 22 from Cumberland to the Chateaubelair Playing Field, beginning at 3 p.m.(RT)
