Expendables take Bagga KO football title

The Expendables, a team of players who consider themselves to be over the hill, last Sunday were crowned new champions of the Hairoun Beer Knockout competition of the Barrouallie Football League at the Keartons Playing Field.{{more}}

Taking on the more youthful Rose Hall, the Expendables were able to use their experience to wear down the exuberance enough that the match ended nil-nil in regulation time.

The match then was decided by kicks from the penalty spot and the Expendables executed successfully 3-1, to lift the elimination title.

The Expendables had carved out their destiny when they ousted last year’s winners Youngster FC 2-0 in the semi-final, while Rose Hall had blanked Parkside Rollers 3-0 in the other semi-finals.

The newly crowned Knockout champions also reached the quarter finals of the League competition, but were edged out by Emerald Stars one-nil.

The curtains will be drawn this Sunday on the 2015 edition of the Barrouallie Football set-up, with the staging of the Bank of SVG League final.(RT)
