Young Strikers win again in Greiggs Softball Competition
The 2013 and 2014 champions of the Hairoun Brewery, Sea Operations SVG Ltd, Courtesy Sports, Nar Fren Dem Greiggs T/20 Softball Cricket Competition â Owia Young Strikers â added another win to their tally sheet when they got past Smashers by 20 runs on Sunday at Greiggs Central.{{more}}
Owia Young Strikers got to 105 for 7 from their 20 overs. Daverson Lavia made 25.
Bowling for Smashers, Kazim Haywood took 2 for 16. In response, Smashers were stifled to 86 for 8 from their 20 overs. Renrick Peters top scored with 38.
Rolando Wright was the pick of Young Strikersâ bowling, taking 3 for 17.
Also on Sunday, Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem defeated Log Enterprise Supreme Strikers by 44 runs.
Nar Fren Dem were dismissed for 89 in 17.4 overs, undone by the bowling of Tydel Richards â 4 for 15 and Handel Antoine â 3 for 11.
But that total proved more than adequate, as Supreme Strikers were sent packing for 46. Clinton Woods took 3 for 4, bowling for Nar Fren Dem.
Adding to the list of victors on Sunday was Bank of SVG All Stars.
Batting first, All Stars scored 111 for 9 from their 20 overs. Neil Audain top scored with 37.
Marlon Farrell took 3 for 18, bowling for Nice Radio Clinchers, who then made 108 for 8 from their corresponding 20 overs. Brent Saunders, with 18, was the lead batsman, as Kalique Samuel picked off 3 for 11, to give All Stars the win by 4 runs.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Top Shottaz Squady and Country Meets Town Outa Trouble were victorious.
Facing Godson Cain Highlanders, Top Shottaz Squady batted first and made 120 for 6 wickets in their 15 overs; Kentish Phillips struck 50.
Danroy Fergus grabbed 3 for 26.
Highlandersâ response was 64 runs short, as they fell for 57 in 12.2 overs, with Elric Morris taking 4 for 14.
And, Outa Trouble ground more salt in CGM Noviceâs wounds, edging the former champions by 2 runs.
Outa Troubleâs 111 for 9 from their 17 overs, saw Mickel Mapp making 27.
Nolan Williams took 3 for 17, but Noviceâs batting did not come up to trumps, reaching 110 for 9 from their 17 overs.
Elton Williamsâ top score of 26 was not enough.
Imran Samuel was Outa Troubleâs most successful bowler, taking 3 for 44.
