Police on the beat in Masters’ cricket
RSVG Police remained perfect from five matches when they dumped the previously unbeaten Sion Hill, as round five of the SVG Mastersâ T/20 Cricket competition saw seven matches last weekend.{{more}}
With the battleground the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field last Sunday, RSVG Police posted 181 for 5 off 20 overs. Trevor Bailey crafted 91, Gosnel Cupid, 45 and Parnel Browne, 25.
Cleton Burnette took 2 for 26 for Sion Hill who in their run chase were dismissed for 154 in 19 overs, 27 runs short.
William Edwards struck 39 and Keyon Jack 29, but it was the bowling of Parnel Browne â 4 for 30, which halted Sion Hillâs march to the total.
Sion Hill were coming off their third straight win, when they recorded a five-wicket win over North Leeward on Saturday at the same venue.
Sent in to bat, North Leeward scored 102 for 9 off 20 overs, with Kenneth Lewis making 28.
Colin Shoy picked off 3 for 6 and Joseph Medford 3 for 19, for Sion Hill, who then replied with 103 for 5 in 15.2 overs. Dave Richards led the way with 47.
Kenneth Lewis snared 3 for 5, bowling for North Leeward.
Other victors on the weekend were Belfongo, North East, Stanley Browne Stubbs, Pastures and St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ptani.
Belfongo defeated Rate Your Boys Challengers by seven wickets at Park Hill on Saturday.
Challengers scored 150 for 9 off 20 overs; Uzzah Pope made 81. Bowling for Belfongo, Curtis King took 3 for 3, Rohan King â 2 for 20 and Wendell Glasgow â 2 for 23.
Belfongo responded with 152 for 3 off 18.1 overs. Aaron Bascombe was 54 not out, Urias King, 37 not out and Curtis King â 30.
On Sunday, North East redeemed themselves by beating Bequia Cricket Association Masters by 26 runs at Park Hill.
Bequia made 98 for 7 off 20 overs, led by Calvin Hazell with 36. Deighton Butler got 3 for 14 and Jerry Matthias â 2 for 9.
North East made 99 for 3 off 13.2 overs; Winsbert Springer scored 42 not out and Peter Campbell â 27 not out.
Stubbs defeated Park Hill United by 10 wickets, also at Park Hill.
Park Hill United were 67 all out off 20 overs, undermined by the bowling of Ricky Thomas with 4 for 16, Leon Samuel â 3 for 24 and Micah Joseph â 2 for 13.
Stubbs replied with 70 without loss in 8.5 overs. Oneil Thomas made 43 not out.
Pastures joined in by seeing off Rudyâs Electrical Barrouallie by three wickets at the Sion Hill Playing Field.
Barrouallie scored 95 all out off 17.5 overs; Garfield Charles got 27 and Samuel Byam â 26.
Alvin Pope grabbed 3 for 26 and Rohan Ash â 2 for 16.
Pastures reached 96 for 7 off 19 overs; Elroy Nanton got 34, as Samuel Byam had 2 for 11 and Ancil Hooper â 2 for 30, bowling for Barrouallie.
Similarly, undefeated Ptani ousted Catoâs Heavy Equipment Glamorgan by 30 runs at Arnos Vale Two.
Ptani got to 127 for 9 off 20 overs; Cassius Welcome made 39 and Elvis Charles, 24.
James George grabbed 4 for 21 and Godfrey Brewster, 2 for 7, as Glamorganâs reply stopped at 90 for 8 from their 20 overs, giving Ptani their fifth win.
Clyde Mofford was Glamorganâs top scorer with 24. Orlando Mofford took 2 for 6 and Westmore Campbell â 2 for 23, bowling for Ptani.(RT)
