Bevan Lewis has declared his intention to vie for the post of third vice-president, when elections for a new executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation are held.{{more}}

Lewis has as the planks for candidacy: “Transparency, Accountability and Development.”

A football administrator for the past 25 years, Lewis started out as coach of Valley Youths in the Under-17 division of the annual Sion Hill Football League.

Additionally, Lewis is a foundation member of current National Club Champions Hope International FC, and held the position of technical director of the club for seven years.

He was the winning coach of the St Vincent Community College team at the 2001 Inter Secondary School Football Competition.

Lewis was quick to point out that he did so voluntarily, not being employed by the institution. He, however, has made his most significant mark on the football landscape of St Vincent and the Grenadines being the main co-ordinator of the Sion Hill Football League for the better part of 13 years.

“Most people will know me as the coordinator of the Sion Hill League, a post I held from 2002 to 2015,” Lewis declared.

“The worst thing that opponents to my candidacy will say about me is ‘he always feels he know,’ but you will not hear anyone say that I’m dishonest, incompetent or that I don’t know what I’m talking about,” Lewis proffered.

He believes that his professional career makes him the perfect candidate for the post, given the current state of football in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Lewis worked with Cable and Wireless for 15 years, starting as a technician in 1992 and working his way through to assistant engineer in 2003. He then successfully pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of the West Indies in 2010.

Subsequently, Lewis became a lecturer at the technical division of the St Vincent Community College, before taking up his current post of network administrator in 2013.

As he prepares to ward off his challengers, Lewis projected: “If I’m successful in the election, I will be focusing on three key areas that I think are important for the continued development of association football in SVG: establishing a formal football calendar, developing a competitive top-flight national football league and putting clubs on a path to FIFA licensing.”

The Annual General Meeting of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation was set for last Saturday, September 26, but was postponed to a date in October.

According to acting general secretary of the SVGFF, the meeting was postponed because the SVGFF’s 2014 audited statements are not ready.(RT)
