Masters Cricket Competition off the mark

There were victories for North East, P’tani, Sion Hill and RSVG Police when the SVG Masters Cricket Competition bowled off on Sunday at three venues.{{more}}

Defending champions North East defeated Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan Masters by seven wickets at Park Hill.

Harvey Pope grabbed 4 for 8 and Winsbert Springer 2 for 14, as Glamorgan crumbled for 58 in 14.3 overs, to which North East responded with 60 for 3 off 9.3 overs.

At Arnos Vale One, St Vincent Cooperative Bank P’tani got past Marriaqua by 30 runs.

Led by Isaac Haywood with 49 not out, P’tani accumulated 124 for 3 from their 20 overs.

Wendell Parris, with 2 for 9, was Marriaqua’s most successful bowler.

In their turn at the crease, Marriaqua was sent packing for 94 in 14 overs. Raymond Mingo top scored with 25.

Their demise was at the bowling of Cassius Welcome – 2 for 3 and Adolphus Campbell – 2 for 9.

Meanwhile, Sion Hill, the 2014 runner-up, was more clinical versus Rate Your Boys Challengers by 58 runs at Arnos Vale Two.

Sion Hill’s total was 156 for 5 off 20 overs, Bill Edwards hitting 28, Augustine Victory – 27 and Sylvester Vanloo – 23. Leopold Simmons took 3 for 27, bowling for Challengers, who were dismissed for 98 in 17.4 overs.

Uzzah Pope, 26 and Kemron Fraser, 22, were the main contributors with the bat, as Cleton Burnette snared 3 for 2 and Joseph Medford, 3 for 12.

And, at Arnos Vale One Playing Field, RSVG Police took command of Belfongo, winning by 10 wickets.

Sigmond Allen and Parnell Browne, both took 3 for 17, to rout Belfongo for 57.

Gosnel Cupid struck 35 not out, as Police replied with 60 for no loss in 8.1 overs.
